Karen Pickering, Swimming

Karen Pickering

Chair of the BAC and Director responsible for Olympic affairs

Karen has been an outstanding member of the British swimming squad since 1986 has a collection of winning medals that include 8 World Championship 14 European Championship medals, 38 National Championship titles, and a Commonwealth Games medal haul of 13 including, 4 Gold.

For her services to swimming Karen was awarded an MBE in the 1994 New Years Honours List.

She is the figure head of the BAC and as chair of Olympic Committee, Karen is responsible for overseeing the production of the Athlete reports from the Summer and Winter Olympic games and following up the findings produced in these with the BOA.

Adam Pengilly, Bob Skeleton

Adam Pengilly

Vice Chair and Director

Placed 8th at the Torino Winter Olympics.

Adam started his sport career as a Junior Decathlete and moved to the Great Britain Bobsleigh team from 1997-2001.

He has been a member fo the Great Britian Bob Skeleton team since 2002.

Adam wrote the 2006 Torino Athletes Report and was voted onto the BAC Executive at the 2006 Annual Athletes Conference.

Leon Taylor, Diving

Leon Taylor

Director

2004 Athens Olympic Silver medalist. Leon has respresented Great Britain since 1992 in the 10m indiidual and 10m synchornised platform events. In 1998, Leon invented the ' hardest dive in the world' - a backward 2 and a half somersaults with 2 and a half twists piked!.

Leon was elected to the BAC Executive in September 2006 at the Annual Athletes Conference.

Georgina Harland, Modern Pentathlon

Georgina Garland

Director

Georgina Harland has represented Great Britain in modern pentathlon.

Over the course of her career, Georgina has won over 30 international medals. Her most crowning achievement came in 2004 at the Summer Olympics in Athens, although Georgina was diagnosed with a possible stress fracture in her tibia, she staged a remarkable comeback to score a spectacular bronze medal finish.

Georgie was elected to the BAC Executive in 2008 at the Annual Athletes Conference.

Goldie Sayers, Javelin

Goldie Sayers

Director

Goldie set a new UK record in the javelin (65.05), thus becoming the first British woman to throw over 65 metres since javelins were redesigned in 1999. From 2003-2007, Goldie won five consecutive national titles. She cemented this achievement at the Norwich Union Glasgow Grand Prix on 3 June 2007 where she beat a top-class international field in rainy conditions with a throw of 63.59m. On March 15, 2008, Goldie won the European Cup of Winter Throwing. During the final at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China she set a new UK record with 65.75 m when finishing fourth.

Goldie was elected to the BAC Executive in 2008 at the Annual Athletes Conference.

Graham Gristwood, Orienteer

Graham Gristwood

Graham is a full-time orienteer. He splits his time between the UK and Sweden and his goal is to become the individual World Champion. In 2008, he was a member of the Great Britain relay team which won the World Orienteering Championships in the Czech Republic

Graham was elected to the BAC Executive in 2007 at the Annual Athletes Conference.

Mike Townley, Solicitor

Director

Mike has been a specialist sports lawyer since before the niche even become recognised. He joined the first sports law firm to be established in the UK straight from law school and remained there until 1999.

In 1999 Miek set up athletes1 which is a commercial sports marketing and athlete management company, while at the same time continuing to practice as a solicitor serving his clients in the sports sector.

Mike joined Bates Wells & Braithwaite in June 2007 in order to concentrate fully on hos sports law practice to head up and strengthen the existing sports tram at BWB.

Mike's clients include national and international governing bodies of sport, event organisers, sponsors and broadcasters and the UK Sports Council, the government agaency for the funding and delivery of high performance sport.
