Running Elections

  • Ideally pick a time when all eligible athletes are together e.g at a training camp.
  • If this is not possible you will need to run a postal ballot.
  • Eligible athletes need to be informed at least two weeks before the elections. Send out a letter informing the athletes that elections are going to be held (giving the date) and that anyone wishing to stand should return their nominations by a set date
  • Nominations need to be returned one week before the election.
  • Eligible voters need to be informed of the nominees, and ballot forms need to be distributed or emailed out 5 days to one week before the election closing date. The BAC can provide you with Ballot papers if you wish.
  • People can vote any time up to the election closing date.
  • Voting should take place by postal ballot. However if this is difficult with athletes overseas you can arrange to receive votes by Internet ballot or by phone before a predetermined cut off time on the day the ballot closes.
  • For more information on running athlete representative elections or for help with organising your elections please contact the BAC Office.
